This Master’s thesis is concerned with the issues and possibilities that arise during the self-translation from Lithuanian to English of a young adult fantasy novel, Drakonų Šnibždėtoja (2016). The author of the novel is also the author of this thesis. Aiming to adapt the novel for an English audience, a number of theoretical issues are discussed in this thesis. First, the thesis presents overviews of the two popular fiction genres, fantasy and young adult fiction, relating this to the genre features present in Drakonų Šnibždėtoja; it is a fantasy novel about dragons and witches with complex secondary worlds, and, at the same time, a young adult novel centered on Ela, its adolescent protagonist, whose life combines supernatural and adolesce...
